to 부정사 중, 형용사적 용법으로 쓰이는 be to 용법은 해석이 여러가지로 된다.
가능, 예정, 운명, 의도, 의무
1. 가능 : ~할 수 있다 (can)
There are not to be anyone.
President is to discuss this year issue during the conference.
2. 예정 : ~할 예정이다 (be going to)
A officer is to make a resevation.
Travelers are to plan to go shopping.
3. 운명 : ~될 운명이다, ~할 운명이다 (be destined to)
MJ and Kein are to meet again.
I am to be a professional.
4. 의도 : ~하려면, ~되려면 (주로 if절에서, to do의 의미)
If you are to work this company, you have to write resume.
If I am to be a dentist, I should study hard.
5. 의무 : ~ 해야한다 (have to, must)
You are to control yourself when you get stress.
Studensts are to follow the school's rules.
